  • Pregnancy Related Disorders

Sciatica, low back pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, headaches and more; pregnancy related disorders are accepted as part of the pregnancy process but do not have to be!

One of the most frequently asked questions I receive from patients and future patient’s is ”is Chiropractic allowed for pregnant women?” I am not sure where this error of thought began but I can assure you that chiropractic care through pregnancy is not only safe, it is a must. You need a Pregnancy Chiropractor!

Let us look at what happens to a woman during the phases of pregnancy. Excitement fills the air when a woman begins to show the first signs of the baby “bump”. Soon thereafter, the mother-to-be finds it necessary to sit differently, lye down differently, drive differently, work differently and play differently. Postural changes throughout pregnancy occur as the center of gravity changes. We are all familiar with that famous “waddle”. As the weight of the baby increases it places increased pressure on the spine, pelvis and related structures.

Muscles become weak and fatigued. (Are you beginning to see why you need a Pregnancy Chiropractor?)

All of these changes become pretty obvious as the pregnancy advances. What is not so obvious are the millions of different hormonal changes and chemical reactions happening in both the mother and her unborn child. These important and subtle changes are regulated by your central nervous system and, your central nervous system is protected by your spine. Avoidance of spinal stress is essential to short and long term health and wellness. A Doctor of Chiropractic like Chiropractic Physician Dr. Mark Lee are trained in spinal care.

There have been studies that have shown the significant advantages of spinal adjustments and pregnancy by a Pregnancy Chiropractor. In one study, women receiving chiropractic care through their first pregnancy had 24% shorter labor times than the group not receiving chiropractic care, and women carrying twins, triplets, etc. reported 39% shorter labor times. But just as impressive is the fact that more than 70% of women reported relief of back pain during pregnancy with chiropractic care. You need to have a Pregnancy Chiropractor like Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee can alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms arising from the stress of muscles and ligaments encountered during your pregnancy. He does this through the use of many different specialized procedures and techniques such as the Webster’s Technique. Dr. Lee is also a proud member of the American Pregnancy Association!
